Final Self-Reflection

Community Service

  1-  Organization

I have volunteered at an annual Science Festival which is located in Abu Dhabi’s Cornish. The volunteering period was from 14th to 22nd of November and my presenting session was from 1:30 PM to 6:30 every Friday and Saturday. I have agreed to volunteer in Crime Scene Investigation Section; my Team Leader’s chosen me to be the sheaf inspector.

 2- Best Part

My best part was educating with the children and gets them interested about science, especially making the children learn how to find the murderer inside the Crime Scene Investigation, like checking the evidences and find what is useful about this evidence. Furthermore, I have loved the way the children giving attention to me when I was sheaf inspector and how do they react once I ask them what you have found in this crime Scene.

     3-Support the community

I have helped our community by talking with the children about science and what did they learn about investigating and telling them that studying is not difficult at all, I have essentially felt that I had achieved something and it feels really great when I found that I can help the community with my studies.

    4- All you learned

I have learned how to communicate with the children and how to teach them how to investigate inside the Crime Scene. I improved my English speaking language then learned a lot of things to find the murderer and how to communicate with my leaders, also I have become more confidence ; I’m surely going to volunteer in Science Festival for next year, all thanks to my assistance’s Mr. Jon and Ms. Flora.

I have volunteered at an annual Science Festival which is located in Abu Dhabi's Cornish. The volunteering period was from 14th to 22nd of November and my presenting session were from 1:30 PM to 6:30 every Friday and Saturday. My main job is to teach the children about Crime Scene Investigation, in order to find the murderer among four suspects. The major question was  who exactly is the murderer who killed the Professor Aysha inside the Crime Scene. Therefore, There are many types of evidence that could lead us to the real murder. So, I’ve divided the children into three groups (Physical group, Chemical group and Biological group). my job at the first week mostly about demonstration for physical group children, because its the most helpful way to find out the fingerprints of the murderer. In the last week my assistance have picked me to be the chef inspector. the Chef inspector mission is to explain about what happened to the children inside the Crime Scene, once they finish their work to find the right murderer I  ask them of the reason for their  choice of the suspect and where is the object that proved the real murderer. In my opinion the children were amazing and they were very smart and they answered most of my questions really fast, which really proved they were listening well. I actually improved my English speaking and I have learned a lot of things about Crime Scenes, all thanks to my assistance's Mr. Jon and Ms. Flora.

My Interview with Mr. Jon

Hi mr jon

Hi

Mr. Jon could you tell what do you think about the crime scene investigation?

It’s fantastic because it’s made out of six deferent small parts, the children habits and have different things to find out who the murderer is.

What’s the main goal of this activity?

We have two main points, the goal is to try to educate the children and get them interested and exited in science, so we have got all these tiny activities that they go around and learn about PH or learn about blood or something like that. But the other goal which is also important is getting university students such as yourself and make them confident so they can stand in front of loads of people and talk.

So we teach them how to cooperate with us about the crime scene investigation. What do you think about the children?

Oh the children are fantastic, they were tentative, they love to learn and especially when they have somebody good to learn from.

That’s nice. So it was nice to meet you Mr. Jon

See you next year.

In Saturday afternoon the 20 second of November, my leader's chosen me to be the sheaf inspector again, because no one else wanted to the sheaf inspector, moreover my friend found that it’s the hardest part in the whole presentation.  So I have told the children what exactly happened inside the crime scene and showed them there are four suspects and who could it be, so I split them into three groups, the first group will check the physical evidence inside the crime scene, the second group will check the chemical evidence, and finally the last group will check the biological evidence. And when the children are checking the evidence, my job is to make the work easier for the children in all the three groups, once they finish I have to ask them where the evidence were found and why you they have chosen this suspect, after they gave the answers we needed to check the belt that have struggled the Professor, which makes us find that suspect A is the murderer.

Day 4 Abu Dhabi Science Festival Volunteering

 Abu Dhabi Science Festival volunteer

In Friday the 20th first of November, I have volunteered to be the sheaf inspector, my job was to be the sheaf inspector , which I need to tell the children what exactly happened inside the crime scene, the thing that happened is,  there is Professor her name is Aisha was killed inside the crime scene and we have four suspects to check which one might be the murderer of the Professor Aisha, so I have to split all the children into three groups to investigate the evidence, which are physical, chemical and biological evidence. Once the children have chosen the real murderer, I have to ask them where and why is that suspect is the real murderer, after that they need to give me the answers, so I can tell that to the police who just called me. The police said they have checked the body and found that Professor was struggled in her neck, therefore we need to find the belt inside the crime scene, in addition we have found that there are fingerprints in the belt, so the real murderer is suspect A the ex-husband of the Professor, his name is Saeed.
